Methylene Blue
There has been a lot of talk about new therapeutic breakthroughs for an old chemical compound known as Methylene Blue. In fact, it has a long history dating back to the late 1800s through discovery from a German scientist. It was initially used as an antiseptic, a dye (hence the color), and found to be useful as an antimalarial agent. Later it was found to exhibit antioxidant, antidepressant, nootropic, and cardioprotective properties. The pharmacology is complex and multi-faceted.
New discoveries have been made for this drug of more than a century old including improving brain health, stimulating cell regeneration, increasing energy, exhibiting anti-aging properties, and enhancing mood and memory.

Interestingly, methylene blue is an auto-oxidizing compound. It donates electrons directly to the electron transport chain in the mitochondria (aka our cell “powerhouses” which make energy or ATP), obtains electrons from surrounding compounds, and maintains oxygen consumption and energy production. In fact, the electron transport chain is the primary pathway for energy production in every cell throughout our body! In summary, methylene blue helps your mitochondria work better which equals more energy for your cells which equals more energy for YOU!
